The Baroque Orchestra La Cetra started the new season on Saturday with Bach’s Mass in B Minor.
…Both the orchestra and the vocal ensemble could literally read the joy and passion in their faces….
… The individual voices could be heard with captivating clarity, so that the polyphony of the composition was shown to its best advantage. At the same time, the mass enabled the singers and instrumentalists to live out their virtuosity and demonstrate their technical skills through the various solo passages. At the same time, the individual orchestral and choral groups were so well coordinated that the music appeared as a unified whole.
