St. Sixtus and Sinicius, the largest and oldest church in the whole of Wangerland, houses a magnificent instrument by the Jever-born organ builder Joachim Kayser, a contemporary of Arp Schnitger. Organist, harpsichordist and conductor Andrea Marcon, who among other things won first prize at the organ competition in Innsbruck in 1986, is one of the most renowned musicians and specialists in the field of early music. On the Kayser organ, he presents a musical journey from his Italian homeland to northern Germany. Girolamo Frescobaldi was one of the most important composers for keyboard instruments in the early 17th century, leaving behind an inexhaustible supply of musical and technical innovations. He thus not only influenced the next generation of native composers with representatives such as Bernardo Storace and Bernardo Pasquini, but, along with Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, was also particularly formative for North German composers such as Dieterich Buxtehude and Vincent Lübeck.
